Celebrating Life!

I love celebrations; don’t you?

I love the planning, the decorating, the cooking, and the gathering of family and friends that celebrations provide. I deeply value holiday traditions and personal milestones in other’s lives as well as my own. I believe this is what makes life richer and keeps relationships close. Celebrating special occasions of any kind, remind us of what is truly important.

Thankfully I grew up in a family that always celebrated birthdays, holidays, and special occasions; but I’ve known some people who don’t know what this is like. While I can’t relate, it reminds me how lucky I am to have family and friends who celebrate the milestones in my life and whom I can celebrate in theirs. We all need people to celebrate our lives with, as this makes life more joyful, meaningful and special.

Celebrating other’s accomplishments, milestones, or special occasions is a privilege and honor that is filled with excitement and fun. It allows everyone to bask in positive emotions that uplift even the sullen of hearts. When we take part in celebrating with family or friends, we are sharing in their joy; acknowledging their uniqueness, while displaying one of life’s greatest gifts… love.

Taking time to celebrate with loved ones, friends, strangers and co-workers fosters greater relationships for everyone present. It brings people together and allows us to “let our hair down” and relax so that we can truly be ourselves. When we’re in this state of being, we are more open and receptive to the unexpected, making our vibrational frequency higher; this results in greater manifestation of our hearts desires. It is no accident why many single people find their soul mates at weddings, parties, or other social occasions. Nor is it by accident that many business opportunities occur while casually networking at celebrations. Perhaps this is why many companies hold employee picnics, office parties and retreats.

Regardless of the reason for celebrating, take a moment to breathe it all in. Savor all the sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and touch of others. Give thanks for this precious time on earth and appreciate all the gifts you have been given. Cherish those around you with kindness and acceptance. Wouldn’t that be something to celebrate!

Harvesting Your Creative Talents and Gifts

This weekend I embarked on a new craft project that reminded me of the vast array of creative possibilities that exist within me and all around. While on a fun outing to the local craft store I found a black metal door or wall decoration with a black crow on top. The manufacturers had glittered the perimeter and outlined the frame in white but the middle was completely plain; a blank canvas. After careful consideration of my crafting options, I decided to take it home and see what to make of this little sign. With the help of my husband, stencils and some acrylic paint, I was able to transform this fairly boring object into an adorable and personalized work of art. Although the project took approximately 5 hours to complete, it was the most fun I’d experienced in months. It even spurred me on to try other creative projects like card making and updating my grandmother’s metal butterfly’s with matching mirrors. While that’s a much larger project that might take me several months, I feel confident in what action steps to take in order to update this family heirloom so that I can enjoy it for years to come.

All of these projects require harvesting my creative talents and gifts as well as letting go of any fear, doubt, or inner skepticism so that my God-given abilities can shine forth as beautiful pieces of art. What unique talents and gifts are beckoning for you to harvest this season? If you’re unsure, take a deep breathe and go into the silence for greater insight. Perhaps there is a project you’ve been wanting to work on but are overwhelmed by it and don’t know where to start? All ideas are manifestations longing to be brought into this world of form through your creative hands. Allow them to be expressed. I am so grateful I did because it was one of the most connective activities my husband and I participated in together in a long time. Sometimes we all need a break from the day-to-day routines and obligations to just play like we did when we were kids. What will you harvest today?

The Gifts of December

Usually during this time of year we lose sight of the true meaning of the season which is celebrating our love for one another; family and friends as well as our fellow mankind. I am so grateful for the colder weather, all the decorations, and of course the food, fun, & fellowship with loved ones not seen on a regular basis. December is a time for closer connection and appreciation for the ones we work with as well as the ones who serve us in the community by delivering our mail or wait on us in various establishments. It is a great time of heartfelt communication, lasting eye contact, warm embraces, great adventure, joyous gatherings, and decadent food. What gifts do December have to offer you? These gifts are all abound and only require your acknowledgement, receipt, of them to unwrap their magic. Thank you God for bringing us all this season of hope. Now what are you going to do with it?
